The state is extending the hours at swimming areas and beaches today and tomorrow to help residents to beat the heat.
Department of Recreation and Conservation pools statewide will close at 7:45 p.m. tonight and tomorrow, with beaches keeping lifeguards on duty until 6:45 p.m. Wading pools will close at 7 p.m. both days, with spray decks staying open until 9 p.m.
Governor Maura Healey says she's grateful to the state workers who are putting in the time and effort to support the extended hours.
