Governor Maura Healey is proposing 250-million-dollars in state spending to help the emergency shelter system in Massachusetts.
The money is part of a two-billion-dollar gross spending bill proposed by the governor to close out the 2023 fiscal year.
Healey says the state is in crisis over the combination of a surge in migrants needing shelter and the skyrocketing cost of housing.
Healey says the state is also seeking money from the federal government to address the crisis.
