All The Air Comes Out Of Springfield Parade

The Parade of Big Balloons is canceled again in Springfield.

The Main Street event, which traditionally happens the day after Thanksgiving, has not been put on since before the coronavirus pandemic.

The Spirit of Springfield says the cost of helium is too high to afford the balloons portraying the Cat in the Hat and other cartoon characters.

But, officials say there is still plenty of fun scheduled for the holidays, including Bright Nights in Forest Park, which is now in its 28th year.
