Westfield State University will not house migrant families.
Mayor Michael McCabe announced on Thursday that an evaluation of Lammers Hall for a potential emergency shelter deemed the building unsuitable.
Further, Governor Maura Healey informed the mayor the dorm was no longer being considered.
Lammers Hall was previously found unfit in 2021, and the residence hall was closed in the summer of 2022 due to declining enrollment.
Issues included no elevators or air conditioning, limited meeting space, and possible asbestos.
