Funding to expand passenger rail service between Western Massachusetts and Boston is going through, despite being cut from the state budget.
MassDOT is continuing its commitment to East-West Rail, which includes investments in trains, route expansion, and regional transit authorities.
Over 100 million dollars in federal funding was recently announced to make track repairs between Palmer and Worcester, and a meeting at the former 's Union Station Monday highlighted the need for the facility to receive priority.
