Police in Springfield are stepping up patrols around school bus stops, to enforce traffic laws.
Starting next week, Traffic and Ordinance Unit officers will conduct additional enforcement activities to ensure the safety of students.
It is illegal to pass a school bus that has its red lights flashing and stop arm extended.
Under Massachusetts law, the maximum fine is 200-dollars, with repeat offenders facing a license suspension.
