Grid Infrastructure May Cost 25 Billion Dollars

The New England region must make substantial investments in its electrical grid, as wind and solar power become more prevalent.

That is according to a new report released by Holyoke-based grid operator, ISO New England. Its study says the New England states may need to invest up to one billion dollars in its electrical transmission system every year through 2050 to meet increased demand.

The report further notes if peak energy needs can be reduced, it could lower that investment cost.

Maine is being looked to as a model for development-the state has set a goal of 100 percent renewable energy by 2050.
