Members of Springfield's School Committee did not appear at last night's meeting, in protest over how the search for a new superintendent is being conducted.
Daniel Warwick announced in January that he would retire at the end of the school year, leaving only a few weeks to find his replacement.
An outside law firm is reviewing applications, which will then go to a screening committee.
The members who did not show up are concerned over the makeup of the committee and say their wish to place the matter on the agenda was blocked.
The next meeting on the search is set for April 23rd.
