Springfield School Superintendent Dan Warwick has officially retired from the school system.
Warwick sent a letter to the Mayor earlier today (Thursday) that said June 7 would be his effective retirement date.
The move comes in the aftermath of a leaked phone conversation between the Superintendent and a colleague that talked in a disparaging way about a school committee member.
Warwick, in his letter says that he was stepping down now in the best interest of the Springfield School system.
