Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey celebrated Juneteenth in Springfield yesterday.
The governor joined other leaders in raising the Juneteenth flag at Springfield City Hall.
During the event, Healey said she was honored to celebrate the holiday in western Mass, which she called an integral part of the abolitionist movement and Civil War.
The former Governor Charlie Baker signed the law making Juneteenth a State Holiday in 2020.
A year later it became a Federal Holiday.
