The majority ownership group of the Boston Celtics is planning to make the franchise available for sale.
The C's announced Monday that the managing board of the ownership group expects to sell a "majority interest" in the team either this year or early next year. Wyc Grousbeck is expected to remain as the Governor of the team until the second closing in 2028.
He says part of the decision to sell was based on estate planning. He bought the team for some 330 million dollars. Forbes puts the franchise at about 5 billion dollars.
According to ESPN, Boston has also agreed to a four-year, 125.9-million-dollar contract extension with guard Derrick White. The Green are also agreeing to a five-year, 314-million-dollar contract extension with forward Jayson Tatum.
