Employees at several nursing homes in Massachusetts, including one in South Hadley, are not getting paid or are receiving bad checks,
Bounced checks are said to have been handed out at Pioneer Valley Rehabilitation Center, where some staff remain unpaid for weeks and still they continue to work.
Ellen Furman from AIC mentioned that in her 50-year career, she has never seen nurses go unpaid and noted the exacerbating issue of a nursing shortage intensified by COVID-19.
Efforts are underway by various organizations to address these challenges through collaboration and ensuring mental health support for both current and future nurses.
