The largest veterans' group in the state is calling on Governor Healey to fire Veterans Secretary Dr Jon Santiago.
The American Legion says the Secretary has been a “no show” at certain meetings and conventions when he has been invited.
The group of 35 thousand members has officially voted “no confidence” in the Secretary.
The group says that the Secretary has displayed a total lack of respect.
Legion officials have sent a letter to the governor in mid-June.
Among others, the current Commander Sandra Davis signed the letter and past commanders including Paul Morin, the former head of the once embattled Holyoke Soldiers Home.
So far neither the Governor nor the Secretary have commented.
