A tragedy at the Triathlon in Nantucket this weekend.
Police say a swimmer died after being pulled from the swimming event.
Officials say EMTs were called to the waters right around 7am when one of the participants was reported to be unresponsive at Jetties Beach.
Police report that the victim became responsive after treatment on the beach and was taken to the hospital for further observation.
Organizers report the swimmer died a short time later at the hospital.
Police have not released the identity of the swimmer but only say he was from Connecticut.
