State Senate Could Approve Bill For "Safe Injection Sites"

The state Senate is expected to vote on a bill today that would allow and regulate drug overdose prevention centers.

Known as safe injection and supervised consumption sites, they would be designed to prevent drug overdoses and deaths.

The overdose prevention centers are part of a larger bill crafted by Senate leaders aimed at addressing substance abuse.

The bill would allow cities and towns to approve safe injection sites, along with needle exchange programs and other services.
