First Responders Emphasize Safe Haven Law After Baby Abandoned

Authorities in Springfield are reminding residents about the state's Safe Haven law after a baby was abandoned at an apartment Tuesday night.

Police say the person that left the baby did not follow the law and put the infant's safety in danger.

Parents in Massachusetts are allowed to surrender newborns at hospitals, police departments, and fire departments without consequences.

Springfield police are looking for the person that abandoned the baby, but they will not face charges.
