Springfield police say National Prescription Drug Take Back Day last weekend was a big success.
The department says officers collected almost 500 pounds of unused or expired medication.
National Drug Take Back Day is meant to ensure potentially dangerous medication doesn't end up in the wrong hands.
Anyone that still wants to dispose of medication can find a drop-off location on the DEA website.
