Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Cut Down Today

The Rockefeller Center Christmas tree is being cut down in Western Massachusetts today.

The 74-foot-tall, 11-ton Norway Spruce is being sawed from its roots in West Stockbridge.

It's the first time since 1959 the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree has come from the Bay State.

The tree will then be hauled to Manhattan and spruced up with 50-thousand Christmas lights that include five miles of electrical wire.

The tree arrives on Saturday.

Meantime, the tree lighting ceremony is set for December 4th with singer and talk show host Kelly Clarkson hosting "Christmas at Rockefeller Center" on NBC.
