Enfield Police Intercept $15,000 Sent To Scammer

Enfield police say officers were able to intercept a package containing 15-thousand-dollars before it could reach a scammer.

Authorities said a woman received a phone call from a scammer claiming to be from the Federal Trade Commission who said her account was flagged and she needed to send the money in cash or Bitcoin.

The woman sent cash but later realized she may have been scammed and called the police, who were able to find the package before it was delivered.

Officers are reminding residents that government agencies will never ask for Bitcoin, gift cards, or cash through the mail.
