Water And Sewer Commission Says Contaminants In Water Remain Above Standard

Springfield officials say a contaminant in the water supply is still exceeding the maximum level for drinking water.

The Springfield Water and Sewer Commission says the latest test results show the water still has elevated levels of haloacetic acids.

However, the commission says the water in Springfield is still safe to drink, as the risks from the contaminant come with drinking it at elevated levels for decades.

Higher levels of haloacetic acids have been detected in the water supply since 2019.
