The Edgartown select board has voted to offer the harbor master post to Gary Kovack.
The vote comes just days before the March 27th retirement of longtime Harbor Master Charlie Blair. Monday's vote was unanimous with Kovack being chosen over finalists Kurt Peterson and Michael Gately.
Kovack has been the harbor master in Tisbury since last year, he previously served as a police officer in Edgartown and has extensive maritime experience with more than 16 years of active and reserve duty in the Coast Guard.
Kovack has not yet responded to the board's offer.
