Massachusetts Congressman Jim McGovern is demanding an explanation after dozens of international students in his district had their student visas revoked.
The Democratic Representative sent a letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem voicing "deep alarm and growing outrage" over the visa revocation of at least 28 students, including 14 from U-Mass Amherst.
McGovern said the revoked visas appear to be "politically motivated" and an attempt to weaponize the immigration system to intimidate and harass students and teachers.
The letter questions the reasons for the revocations and the lack of notice provided to institutions.
