The Springfield Police Department is stepping up patrols around school buses.
The department says officers will increase high-visibility deployments on bus routes in an effort to ensure students are safe.
The patrols are meant to discourage other drivers from speeding around school buses and passing them if the stop arm is out and red lights are flashing.
Springfield P-D said anyone caught violating the law will be pulled over and cited.
