Western Massachusetts officials are dealing with the topic of marijuana availability extensively this week.
The West Springfield City Council voted unanimously Monday night to keep pot shops from opening in the city until at least December of 2018.
Mayor William Reichelt is considering a referendum asking voters if they want to see pot shops in the city.
Meanwhile, Holyoke's city council will debate a request tonight from GTI Massachusetts for a marijuana cultivation facility.
No final decisions are expected.
