The City of Springfield is getting authorization to apply for state funding for nine proposed school projects.
Springfield City Councilors gave the green light on Monday to pursue up to 80-percent reimbursement from the Massachusetts School Building Authority for the proposed construction and renovation projects.
The top priority for the city is replacing the 119-year-old Homer Street school.
Other proposals include a new Brightwood School on the north end and a new Lincoln Elementary school on Chestnut Street.
