A new citizen committee focused on improving relations between police and the Springfield community is being formed.
City Council President Orlando Ramos announced 14 appointments of the new group.
Ramos, who originally announced the formation of the committee last month, says members will hold meetings, speak to residents and law enforcement, and make recommendations to City Council and the mayor's office.
The City Council and the Springfield Mayor have been at odds for months over the direction of the police department.
