Easthampton Says No To Sanctuary City

A proposal to call Easthampton a "sanctuary city" appears to be going nowhere.

A town council subcommittee made elected to recommend not moving forward with those plans to the full town council at a Wednesday night meeting in front of a large crowd.

President Trump issued new guidelines recently calling for anyone illegally in the country who has been convicted, charged or suspected of a crime to be deported, but the debate in Easthampton goes back several months.

Opponents of the declaration expressed concerns about losing federal funding.
