Committee To Search For Snake Site Besides "The Q"

Massachusetts officials are looking for somewhere else to place a colony of rattlesnakes after a proposal to put them on a Massachusetts island fell through.

Locations being reviewed by the state fisheries and wildlife department include snake habitats in Mount Tom in Holyoke and southern Berkshire County.

There was pushback from residents who live nearby the previously-proposed site on Mount Zion Peak in Petersham.

A public hearing on the state's progress is scheduled in Belchertown next Tuesday.
