The tribes that run the Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun casinos say they will announce the location of their planned Hartford-area casino soon.
The tribes say a casino near Hartford would protect state jobs and gambling revenue from the MGM Resorts casino under construction in Springfield.
The tribes have the exclusive right to operate casinos in the state because of gaming compacts reached in the 1980s and 1990s.
The casino announcement which comes down to East Windsor and Windsor Locks is expected any day now.
Officials say Windsor Locks would require a referendum vote. East Windsor so far would not.
