City Shuts Down Loud Parties At City Home

Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno is praising action taken by the city's police department and code enforcement officers to shut down an apartment deemed a nuisance because of late-night parties.

The actions come in a statement late Tuesday from the Mayor's office.

The third-floor building on Union Street was raided and condemned on Tuesday after the city received numerous complaints from neighborhood residents about the apartment and an adjacent lot.

Sarno responded to an email sent by the police department that says absentee landlords are taking advantage of Springfield and said there needs to be a crackdown on such problem properties.
