New Immigrants Due In State After Travel Ban

Efforts to resettle refugees in Western Massachusetts are once again running into a roadblock thanks to a new executive order from President Trump.

The White House has announced a new 120-day travel ban on six Muslim-majority countries and a suspension of refugee programs to take effect on March 16th.

Maxine Stein at Jewish Family Services says the ban will have the same result as the previous Trump executive order, which was halted by a federal court earlier this year.   She called it "both Un-American and Un- Jewish."

One Iraqi family is coming into the area after the ban begins, as it no longer blocks people from that country, and one man from one of the banned countries is scheduled to arrive a day before the ban starts, according to the organization.
