Staples To Cut Stores In US

Staples says it will close 70 stores  in the U.S. and Canada this year.

This comes after last year's shutdown  of 48 stores.

That's about five-percent of its total store count.

The  announcement follows news that same-store sales at Staples fell seven  percent in the holiday quarter and comes about a year after regulators  stopped it from buying rival Office Depot.

It's not yet known which  stores will close.
