Unemployment numbers are in for January in Western Massachusetts.
Springfield's unemployment rate was seven-point-two-percent, which is lower than the eight-point-nine-percent rate from January 2016.
The Greater Springfield region saw a rate of four-point-nine-percent, which is lower than the six-percent rate from the previous January.
Officials say that they saw a fluctuating rate mainly because of holiday staffing reductions.
