The search for a new men's basketball coach at UMass apparently isn't over.
New hire Pat Kelsey released a statement yesterday saying he asked to be released from the offer he accepted to take the position, for "personal reasons."
UMass officials were preparing to introduce Kelsey at a news conference yesterday and abruptly canceled it.
Kelsey coached Winthrop's men's team to the NCAA Tournament this season.
Meantime, UMass officials say that since the coach is walking away from the deal, they are entitled to a one million dollar buyout. The coach has not commented.
