Springfield Native Honored In Tennessee Honored

A Springfield native who was killed in a terror attack at a military installation in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 2015 is being honored.

Gunnery Sergeant Thomas Sullivan and one other will be posthumously awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal, the highest non-combat medal given by the U.S. Department of the Navy at a ceremony in Chattanooga in May.

Five officers died trying to save people by distracting the gunman, Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, who was said by federal investigators to have been inspired by ISIS in committing the attack.
