The Drought For Now Is Over

The long-standing Western  Massachusetts drought is over.

The U.S. Drought Monitor's weekly update  this week puts portions of Hampden and Hampshire counties in the  "abnormally dry" zone, which is the lowest danger category on the index.

Late-season snow and recent rain are credited with getting the area out  of the "drought" category.
