A sad note from the Forest Park Zoo in Springfield where officials reported Friday night that Wally The Alligator died at the approximate age of 26.
You will recall that Wally went unnoticed in a West Springfield home for several years and then wound up at the zoo where he was thriving.
Wally was being treated for a variety of issues since he did not receive any care from a vet for a long period of time.
Zoo officials tell us Thelma, who was Wally's roommate at the zoo, will miss basking in the sun with him on warm days.
