A settlement is being reached between five Springfield police detectives and a state trooper and a plaintiff who alleged use of excessive force.
The Springfield Republican reports details of the agreement involving Justin Douglas aren't being made available currently, but a settlement notice was posted in U.S. District Court Monday morning as jury selection was set to begin in a trial being brought on by the convicted weapons dealer.
Douglas was arrested at a motel in West Springfield in 2012 and alleges he was beaten and pistol-whipped.
Embattled narcotics detective Gregg Bigda was one of the six officers named in the suit.
