Saying the phrase "God bless the City of Holyoke" during city council meetings is now an official rule.
City council members added the rule last week that they'll recite that after saying the Pledge of Allegiance.

President Kevin Jourdian says the vote is a way to preserve a tradition.
Some residents like the tradition. Others suggest that God has no place in a City Council meeting.
