A 22-year-old Springfield man is accused of trying to stab a police officer Sunday night.
Authorities say Juan Delvalle is charged with armed assault with intent to murder and being a disorderly person.
Officer James Burgos escaped injury because he was wearing a protective vest when he was assaulted in the lobby at police headquarters.
Delvalle was arrested yesterday afternoon in the emergency department at Baystate Medical Center.
