Pioneer Valley Transit Authority bus stops are becoming more handicap-accessible.
Springfield's City Council voted at last night's meeting to approve a PVTA request to install landing pads at 143 bus stops throughout the city.
The goal of the pads is to make it easier for people in wheelchairs or using walkers, as well as parents with strollers, to get on and off a bus.
A grant from MassDOT is the primary source of funding for the project.
