The Massachusetts Senate is giving its approval to a 40-billion-dollar budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
The Senate plan includes several new taxes and fees, including a new tax on short term rentals such as Airbnb.
The House previously passed its own budget package.
Another part of the senate budget that is not included in the house version is a study of high speed rail. That is something that has been pushed for by Senator Eric Lesser.
The details will now be worked out in a budget conference, which Senate President Stanley Rosenberg admits will be rough.'
