No Bail For Man Charged With Making Highway Threat

The man who allegedly led police on a  high-speed chase in a pickup truck while waving pipe bombs out the  window in West Springfield earlier this month is being found competent  to stand trial.

Robert Decoteau of Russell pleaded not guilty in  Springfield District Court on Friday to charges of possession of  explosives and making bomb threats.

It was his first court appearance  since the May 1st incident, which was followed by an ordered psychiatric  exam to determine his competency.

Decoteau is being held without bail  and will have a dangerousness hearing regarding his bail on Friday.
