Witness Says McCarthy Thought He Could Fight Demon

A man accused of killing a  two-year-old girl whose body washed up on an island in Boston Harbor  apparently thought he had the power to drive out demons.

Michael  Sprinsky, a childhood friend of accused murderer Michael McCarthy,  testified yesterday in the trial.

Sprinsky says McCarthy was interested  in the supernatural before he allegedly killed Bella Bond, otherwise  known as "Baby Doe."

McCarthy's lawyer rejected the prosecution's claim  the girl was killed because McCarthy believed she had become possessed  by a demon.
