There's an update on a lawsuit that was filed against a Springfield pastor by an African civil rights group.
A federal judge accepted a motion for summary judgment made by Scott Lively in the case brought against him by Sexual Minorities Uganda, who alleged that Lively was part of a persecution effort against gay people in the country when he visited and had communications with clergy members and country leaders on the issue.
Federal Judge Michael Ponsor criticized Lively in his memorandum, saying he aided and abetted "efforts to demonize, intimidate and injure LGBT people in Uganda" and that the actions were violations of international law.
However, Ponsor said the court doesn't have jurisdiction over the actions taken in pursuit of Lively's "odious" campaign.
