Is Springfield Now A Sanctuary City?

Springfield Mayor Domenic Sarno is  expressing his displeasure about a church property being offered as a  sanctuary for illegal immigrants who are facing deportation.

Sarno is ordering a legal review after learning about the action  from South Congregational Church on Maple Street last week.

Sarno has  previously clarified that Springfield is not a "sanctuary city" for  illegal immigrants, in contrast to several other Western Massachusetts  cities.

The church is getting support from several other faith  congregations and the Pioneer Valley Project activist group.
