MassMutual is selling two properties in downtown Springfield.
A spokesperson for the insurance company said a decision was reached Monday to unload Tower Square and the Marriott hotel, ending a 45-year run of development and ownership.
Officials say the sale does not represent a lessening of MassMutual's commitment to Springfield, but is an investment decision.
MassMutual sold its conference center in Chicopee last month.
