Nurses Locked Out After Contract Breakdown

Unionized nurses at Baystate Franklin  Medical Center are locked out.

Dozens of them were escorted out of the  building last night after Baystate officials said the action was in  response to a one-day strike.

The nurses say the hospital needs to  address a staffing shortage, and the two sides have been working on a  contract since last fall, but talks have stalled.

Temporary nurses will  be working in place over the 72-hour lockout.
