State Education Commissioner Is Dead

Massachusetts Commissioner of  Elementary and Secondary Education Mitchell Chester is dead at the age  of 65.

Chester had been battling cancer for some time, and passed away  Tuesday.

Chester became commissioner in 2008, and Governor Charlie  Baker says he will be terribly missed by all.

Boston Public Schools  Superintendent Tommy Chang says Chester was a true professional who was  committed to improving public education.
