A Springfield man is facing charges of assault and battery on a police officer with a dangerous weapon after an incident in the city Wednesday night.
Authorities reportedly witnessed a near collision between a motorcycle and a car, and the car sped off and hit a police cruiser that tried to pull it over, at an unspecified location.
Police gave chase, but the vehicle crossed the line into Chicopee and was eventually found abandoned by police in a park, according to reports.
A 21-year-old suspect was arrested as well as a 17 year old passenger in the car.
